In Conversation with Chinese Literary Icon Liu Zhenyun at London Book Fair 2025

As part of our ongoing work to champion Chinese literature on the global stage, Singing Grass curated a landmark event at this year’s London Book Fair featuring Liu Zhenyun, celebrated author and Reading Ambassador for Beijing International Book Fair.

Moderated by Alicia Liu, founder of Singing Grass, the session brought Liu into dialogue with Jenny Niven, director of Edinburgh International Book Festival and acclaimed literary translator Nicky Harman.

The session spotlighted the evolving global impact of Chinese literature and the universal appeal of Chinese storytelling, highlighting how Liu’s works — translated into over thirty languages and adapted into films and stage productions around the world — are bridging cultural divides.
